Solutions to Emotional Overwhelm
By the Editor
“Emotional overwhelm” is the gentle and common sense description that Dr. Peter Breggin gives to the range of overwhelming emotional distresses that are classified by the medical system as mental illness. It may be diagnosed as psychosis, schizophrenia, depression, panic disorder, or bipolar disorder. If the underlying roots of severe emotional distress come not from a deficiency of Zoloft or Xanax but from the “rips and holes in the social and environmental fabric that have been woven into us from infancy” – then the process of healing or “solutions” must involve developing new and better approaches to life including building new and better relationships with ourselves, with others and with God.
This approach to mental health is what Beautiful Minds Wellness supports wholeheartedly. Read the full article about the solutions to overwhelm titled Solutions to Madness and Personal Crises written by Dr. Peter Breggin, MD and may you be blessed.
“Love is the most essential ingredient in all the activities we call therapy, healing, recovery, rehabilitation, self-empowerment, personal growth, or enlightenment. Becoming a source of love is the most wonderful thing we can do for ourselves and others.” -Peter Breggin
